THE CITY OF WINE

The City of Wine is located in Elciego, among medieval towns, where the winemaking tradition, nature, the exquisite cuisine and the splendid views perfectly complement each other to stimulate your senses.

MARQUÉS DE RISCAL WINERY

The expansive vineyard, dates back to 1858, making Marqués de Riscal the oldest winery in the region. Guests can learn more about wine-making on one of the daily tours of the vineyard’s state-of-the-art facilities. The fascinating journey from grapevine to bottle unfolds as visitors make their way from fermenting rooms to aging rooms stacked high with oak barrels to the enormous cellar housing eight million bottles of wine. A veritable viticulture ‘cathedral’, the cellar contains vintages dating back to 1862.

BICYCLE TOURS

The hotel is set in an area of great natural beauty, and exploring its surroundings is easy on one of the hotel’s complimentary bicycles. Follow winding pathways through the vines, past ancient stone chapels and along the Ebro River, pausing at vantage points to relish the stunning panorama. To make your excursion complete, request a delicious picnic hamper and bottle of Marqués de Riscal wine to enjoy en-route when hunger strikes.

LAGUARDIA

Just a short drive away is Europe’s largest wine museum, Dinastía Vivanco, and the medieval town of La Guardia where age-old wine making traditions are faithfully upheld.
